How to make Profits with Great Listings

It's not what you sell on eBay - it's the way you sell it!

It's vitally important to the success of your eBay selling that the way you describe your goods on your eBay listing is done to your best advantage. If you've ever scrolled through other peoples listings (which you should do regularly) you will have probably noticed that some are good and some are quite frankly awful!

If you put yourself in the position of a buyer looking for a particular product, and you see for example 3 listings for the same or similar products, how do you choose which one to buy? If the first one you see shows a photo of the product, has a reasonable description, but doesn't tell you too much about it, and doesn't really say what the delivery time or costs are, you would probably move onto the next one.

The second one looks a lot cheaper, but has no photo and the description given leaves a lot to be desired. It also looks as though it's been cobbled together by someone who doesn't care whether he sells it or not.

Now, if the third one has a photo with the listing and with the description, and also has a comprehensive description all set out properly, with any delivery costs and times shown, all methods of payment accepted, guarantee and returns policy in place, leaving no question unanswered, you'd be impressed wouldn't you? Even if the third listing was a little bit more in price, most people would probably go for that one. Why? For the simple reason that it answers all your questions BEFORE you ask them.

That's how YOUR listings should look. From the title to the payment method, your listings should be clear and concise, with easy to understand, and FULL descriptions complete with photos is a must. Take a little extra time when doing your description, take a pride in how it looks, after all it IS your sales page. Make your listing stand out from the rest - even ones selling the same products!

There are hundreds of free eBay auction templates available online these days, so hunt them down and use them. That way you can become destinctive, and it will save you time later on, as well as looking more professional. The use of various fonts and sizes, as well as subtle use of colours can do wonders for your listings. If you don't believe me, scroll through different eBay listings and see which ones stand out, and why.

If you're just selling one off items, or rare items without any real competition, then a standard listing description is normally fine. However, it gets more tricky to get noticed if you have a lot of competition, so you must work hard to be up there with the best. There's nothing wrong with copying the ideas from other successful sellers.

Don't copy them exactly of course, this can lead to all sorts of problems, but there's nothing to stop you copying their ideas. When you find one you really like, see how they constructed it, what font did they use, what size was it and more importantly what layout did they use? Anything that you think would be useful to you, make a note of and try it yourself.

Small Tweaks can mean Bigger Profits

How to Profit on eBay - 5 Small Tweaks to Boost Your Sales

Have you ever wondered if there's anything else you can do to get more sales on eBay? Do you see your competition getting ahead of you, and think there must be something I can do to catch up, or even overtake them?

You may think your eBay listings are as good as you can make them - but are they? Here are a few things you can try that may be enough to boost your sales and get you back in the mix. They're only small things, but as they say 'all good things come in small parcels!'

1.   Listing Titles.  Have you ever noticed how some people use CAPITALS for ALL their words in a Listing on eBay? There's a school of opinion that it's 'not the done thing', and may even be a form of 'shouting' as in text speak. On the other hand, some studies have shown an increase of around 20% in hits using all capitals, so it may well be worth trying.

2.   White Space.  If you have a long listing describing your item in detail (which you should have by the way), make sure you have plenty of 'white space'. Use short paragraphs with double spacing between each and let the 'dog see the rabbit', i.e. your detailed description should be read easily. Readers get bored very quickly with long text and will leave.

3.   Scrolling Galleries.  If you use a scrolling gallery to showcase your products (it's a great idea if you have lots to sell), then you probably use something like 'Auctiva' or 'Vendio'. Make sure the scrolling gallery is sited at the bottom of your listing so you don't distract from the item you're currently selling.

4.   Auction Templates  Do you use auction templates for your listings? If you do then make sure the template you choose is relevant to your business. Also choose a template where the photos are either on the left or the right, and not top or bottom. This way your potential buyer can see your photos as they scroll through your listing. Tests have shown this can improve the selling rate by as much as 15%.

5.   Shipping and Returns.  Although eBay give you a box to enter your shipping and returns policies, try putting them at the bottom of your description. Most people (me included) always like to know the details of these things before clicking any buttons. I like to know the shipping method and cost etc don't you?

These may only be small things, but if you're struggling a little bit give them a try. An improved click rate of 15% here or 20% there may be just what you want!

If even these tips don't work, and you want to start all over again from the beginning, have a look at 'Secrets of an Ebay Powerseller' by Amanda O'Brien. She will show you how to earn between £350 - £2,500 a week selling on eBay. Starting from scratch she shows exactly what you have to do, what products to sell, how to list properly, what profit margins to look for - literally EVERYTHING you will ever need to know. It's a proper book too, so you can have it next to you as you do it! Get your copy HERE NOW and live the dream.

Are there any Smart Auction Secrets on eBay?

Will you profit with more than one eBay account?

Having more than one eBay account ID is essential if you want to take advantage of everything eBay offers its sellers, and start to profit with your eBay auction sites. You shouldn't worry about customers finding out about your multiple identities, as even with the sophisticated searches available, no-one but eBay will ever know you have more than one account.

The only stipulation is that you must keep all your accounts 'in good order', and they must be used properly, but if you're selling into several different 'niche' markets for example, having multiple account ID's is a distinct advantage.

What do you mean exactly?

Let's say for example that you sell a number of different products on eBay in several categories. In one you may be selling a range of mens clothing or mens toiletries under the eBay User ID of 'AllForMen22'. This is good, because anyone looking at your details knows that all your products will be geared towards the male, and if that's what they want, they may well click on your other products too.

What if you now decide to branch out a little, and come across a nice 'niche' market in say bridle gowns or cosmetics. Anyone looking at your ID of 'AllForMen22' will either be confused or put off wouldn't they?!

However, if your ID for this category was something like 'PamperedBridesUK' nobody would think twice, and you'd probably get lots of business and profits with a name like that.

What do I do then?

When choosing another ID name on eBay, be as specific as you can to the products you will be selling. You will be in a much better position to target each of your 'niche' markets by concentrating on the products within each ID.

Is it good for eBay shops?

Multiple account ID's are a definate must for eBay shops to profit. Currently eBay only allows you to have one eBay shop per account, so if you have a number of accounts you could have a shop with each one! The potential for growth with several eBay shops is staggering. With the cross-promotion feature on eBay (which allows you to cross-promote other peoples products within your listings and emails) you can actually cross-promote your own products between all your different shops! Think of the extra profit that would bring in.

Any more tips?

There's a couple of things I should mention which are helpful. The first concerns negative feedback on eBay. Should you be unlucky enough to get any negative feedback on one of your accounts, it won't affect any of your other accounts at all. If the negative feedback is a problem (it may not have been your fault at all), you could also transfer those products to another account while you sort out the problem.

Finally, if you are the enterprising type and source some of your products from within eBay itself i.e. from someone who has misspelt their items or put them in the wrong category at the wrong price (you'd be surprised how often that happens), it is to your advantage that you have separate buyers and sellers accounts.

EBay Responds to the UK Postal Strike

Following the recent announcement by the Commercial Worker's Union that a national strike involving postal workers is likely to commence on the 18th October 2009 in the UK, eBay have issued the following statement with regard to their Dispatch Time DSR's for the duration of the strike, should it go ahead.

This is the eBay announcement in full.

"Today the Commercial Worker's Union has issued strike notice to Royal Mail. This means a national strike is possible from the 18th October.

We take this notice very seriously and recognise the negative impact that such action will have for sellers on eBay.co.uk and want to let you know what we are doing to mitigate the impact.

We're temporarily removing the option for buyers to rate sellers on the Dispatch Time Detailed Seller Rating from the start date of any national strike action.

We've expressed our concerns directly to the business secretary Rt. Hon Lord Mandelson that it is unacceptable many hard working small businesses selling on eBay are victims of a dispute that is beyond their control.

We're working with a number of alternative postal carriers to ensure sellers can provide the levels of service that are critical in the run up to Christmas."

Although this gives eBay sellers a little less to worry about in the run up to Christmas, the fact remains that deliveries will be severely delayed unless other, more expensive options are used.

Is your Auction Listing one of the best on eBay?

What does your eBay auction listing say about you?

Are you happy with your eBay auction listings? Does your listing stand out and say to people 'Look at me! Here I am! Come and buy me now!' Or is yours like so many others, and just sit there hoping someone will click on it?

If you want people to click on your products and make a purchase, you have to offer something the others don't. You have to make your listing stand up and be noticed. You have to.......

Let's look at it another way. Have you ever been to a market on market day and seen all the stall holders selling their wares? They shout a lot and wave their arms about like tick tack men at the races, even though some of the goods they have on display are, shall we say, a little bit ordinary.

No matter. The point is they're attracting attention to themselves and their stall. They're saying 'Look at MY stall - I've got much better goods for sale than anyone else', and most of the time they do a good trade despite their limitations.

The secret is they are enthusiastic about the products they sell, and because they convey this enthusiasm vocally, and in gestures, it becomes infectious and people will go to their stall 'just to have a look'. Because you only have a few words and a photograph to put across your 'sales pitch', doesn't mean you can't display the same sort of enthusiasm. In fact it's ESSENTIAL that you do!

Here's a good tip. Go onto eBay and have a look at products similar to your own, and pick out the ones that stand out from the others. If you were a customer looking for that product, which ones would YOU click on, and why? There's a very good chance that the ones you choose would be placed by an eBay PowerSeller. They will stand out simply because they say something important. If you want to do the same, make a note of how they've worded it, and do something similar.

You MUST come across as enthusiastic about your products. If you can't muster some enthusiasm for your product, how can you expect anyone else to?

If you're still not sure what to write, or how to lay it out, have a look at the 'Auctionadcreater' Template Tool. You can find this tool on the 'FREE AUCTION TOOLS' button on the right hand side of this blog. Don't forget, all these tools are absolutely FREE!

I hope this tip has been useful, and if you'd like to find out how a real eBay PowerSeller does her listings, and earns between £350 - £2,500 per week from her kitchen table, then follow the LINK HERE. It's a real eyeopener!

Easy Tips for getting it right on eBay

Why your Terms and Conditions are a must on eBay
There are certain things you can do selling on eBay, and there are certain things you can't do selling on eBay.

All of these are laid down in eBay's Terms and Conditions when you first sign up, and if you haven't looked them up yet I strongley advise youdo - it can save a lot of hassle later if you fall foul of them. But are Terms and Conditions necessary on your eBay listings?

If you sell any products on eBay you MUST include your own Terms and Conditions of Sale. This isn't a condition set by eBay, it's more a question of common sense. Having said that, they don't have to be all legal beagle or anything, you don't have to put 'aforementioned', 'hitherto' or 'thereafter' or stuff like that in it.

All you need is straightforward plain English words telling everyone how it is. Give them a nice friendly set of rules they can easily understand so there are no misunderstandings on either side. Tell your buyers everything they need to know, but do it a way that won't upset them.

What do I say?
Whatever you do don't come across as rude or patronizing, that's the quickest way to lose a sale. Make sure you say what methods of payment are acceptable and what days you despatch goods, that sort of thing. If for example you can only get to the Post Office on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, put that in too. Always state how much the postage costs will be, and the method of delivery i.e. 1st Class, Parcel Post etc. Tell them anything you think they will need to know, but do it in a way that doesn't come across as curt.

Your Terms and Conditions are specific to you. It's how you operate your business. When people see your Terms and Conditions leave them in no doubt as to how you operate, so there are no misunderstandings before they decide to buy your product(s), but as I said before - be friendly!

If you're still worried about how to word it all, go on to eBay and find similar products to your own, then click on a few and see how they are wording theirs. Make a few notes and do the same. It isn't that difficult, but it is important to do it, and do it properly.

If you'd like any further tips on using eBay, please check my other posts on this blog or my other blog on http://all-for-online-auctions.blogspot.com/ where you can find information on wholesale suppliers as well as other products to help you get the most from eBay.

Hidden Secrets to Make Big Profits on eBay

How to find the buyers you want fast!
Probably eBay's worst kept secret is the 'WANT IT NOW' section, where buyers can place requests for specific items they want, but haven't been able to find anywhere else on eBay.

If you stop to think about it for a moment, this could be a potential goldmine couldn't it? Every day there are thousands of people posting requests on the 'WANT IT NOW' board of eBay desparately seeking to BUY! It's got to be a dream come true for anyone wanting to SELL on eBay. Today for example, there were 178 pages with nearly 9,000 different items being wanted (and that's only on eBay UK!), so it's easy to see that if you knew which products were in hot demand AND with almost NO supply available, you'd be able to step in and profit wouldn't you. Well, wouldn't you?

Won't it take ages to search?
Doing it the ordinary way - yes! I've tried it myself, and to look through everything can take hours! But what if you had some software that could do it all for you? And what if this software could search through ALL the postings and match up the requests with the numbers of suppliers already saying they can supply certain products, leaving only those with NOBODY to supply them. Once you have this information you'll be able to 'cherry pick' the ones YOU can supply and virtually name your price! That's what I call easy peasy!

Here's your chance to get in before everyone else. With Auction Inspector you will be able to tell which niche markets are saturated with eBay sellers already, and which ones are ripe for the picking - all in the time it would take to make a cup of coffee!

How does it work then?
Auction Inspector automatically ranks results from your search on their 'potential' - in other words how much demand there is for a particular item versus how many responses there are from eBay sellers. This 'potential' is expressed as a number, the higher the number the higher the 'potential'. Low or negative numbers mean there is little demand or too many eBay sellers already competing for those buyers.

Once you get the hang of using Auction Inspector it will enhance your eBay experience no end, making sure you stay one step ahead of any competition.

Quickly find demand for certain products using the keyword search tool. Searching the WANT IT NOW manually could take you hours, but Auction Inspector does it in minutes!

Where can I use it?
Auction Inspector is compatible with searching the eBay markets of USA, Canada, UK and Australia (with more to come in the pipeline) so in total there are many THOUSANDS of buyers desparately looking for someone to supply them - if only you knew who they were! Well, with Auction Inspector you can - and quickly!

CHECK IT OUT HERE and see how you can increase your eBay sales TODAY!

Inside there is more information about the software and they give you examples of potential niches they've uncovered using Auction Inspector. If you're into making money from eBay then you definately want to check this out.

Back to Skool to make big profits with these eBay tools

How simple mistakes can make money on eBay
Did you know there are thousands of items listed on eBay everyday that aren't where they're supposed to be? These items have simply been misspelt in some way, and because of this easy mistake the seller could lose out on a lot of profit.

By the same token, if you are a buyer, and can find these 'mistakes', there's a very good chance you can pick up a bargain!

So how do I find these 'mistakes'?
Easy peezy, I'll give you the link in a moment. The real beauty of these tools is that they are totally FREE! If you use the tool for finding the misspelt items you will be able to see the great many products people have listed on eBay, but because they have slightly misspelt the title or description, it ends up somewhere it shouldn't, and with very few bidders - if any.

Ever notice when you type something in and it says 'Do you mean....?' Well, strangley enough there are a lot of people who, for one reason or another, simply ignore this and carry on. We now have a misspelt word that stays in the system, and it's these words that can make you a nice profit or a nice bargain.

How does this make a profit or bargain then?
Supposing you were looking to buy a Rolex watch on eBay. To save time you'd type in 'Rolex' which would take you to the listings for Rolex wouldn't it? Now, just supposing someone selling a Rolex typed in 'Rolix' or 'Rollex' instead when listing it, and didn't spot-or ignored- the 'Do you mean Rolex?' box, then their prized watch would end up listed in totally the wrong place, and instead of hundreds of bidders there were none, except perhaps YOU if you were smart enough to use the right tools!

There are a number of 'eBayers' now who've built nice little businesses  finding these 'lost' items, buying them a silly prices, and putting them back on eBay (spelt the correct way) and pocketed a nice little profit, thank you very much!

So where are these tools then?
There are 15 very useful tools for you to use to get the most out of eBay, so have a browse and see what you think. Once you've sussed out how they work you should be able to take advantage of any mistake that's been made with descriptions and titles.

Of course, if you are also an eBay seller as well as an eBay buyer, this should act as a wake up call to make absolutely certain you've spelt everything properley before you submit YOURS for listing, shouldn't it?!

Have fun with these TOOLS HERE and come back for more tips and tricks for the world of eBay whenever you can.

How Old can be Sold on eBay

How going back in time can bring you big profits on eBay...and you won't feel a thing!

How to find things from the past for almost next to nothing, and then resell them on eBay for HUGE profits!

I came across this eBook recently called Thrift Store Goldmines and at first I wasn't sure what to make of it. But delving into it a bit deeper I think this could be a very nice way to make money on eBay, and in a lot of cases - with hardly any competition at all!

Everyone wants to find products to sell on eBay that will make them good online profits. If you know eBay then you will know that sometimes it's very difficult to compete with a Powerseller on eBay, who will sell in large numbers - and they all seem to have the best products too! If you aren't prepared to stump up lots of money to buy these 'best sellers' in bulk - and not everyone can - then how can you compete?

What's the answer?

The simple answer is - you don't. What you do is find other products that are say one-offs, and sell them instead. If you came across several of the same item in a job lot for example, you could buy them and try selling on eBay as a job lot too! You can sometimes get a lot more money this way than if you tried selling them individually.

The beauty of Thrift Store Goldmines is that a lot of the work in finding these 'odd' items is done for you. Do you know that some of the most popular and profitable items currently selling on eBay are things from the past? You know the sort of thing, your granny's old vase that sat in her hallway for as long as you can remember, or those old china plates in the cupboard, or a set of silver teaspoons. There are literally thousands of collectors scanning eBay on a daily basis just looking for these vintage items.

What if I can't find anything?

If you haven't got any vintage things of your own, and your grandmother keeps looking at you oddly when you search through her cupboards, don't worry there are scores of places you can find them. Thrift Store Goldmines will guide you through where to look, what to look for, how to research and the best way to sell on eBay.

One of the really great things about selling vintage items on eBay is that 99% of the time there is NO competition! Just think about it. If you've got hold of say a vintage wooden spice jar for example from a Thrift Store or Second Hand Shop, it's hardly likely that anyone else will have the exact same item is it? So when you list on eBay, in the right category of course, the chances are that yours will be the only one of its type won't it?

I highly recommend you get a copy of Thrift Store Goldmines if you want to let the eBay Powersellers do their thing, and find a nice niche you can sell to with little or no competition. Thrift Store Goldmine is chock full of usefull information, and in addition to telling you all about selling vintage items, there are a number of FREE bonus books thrown in too, such as Pricing Strategy's and Listing tips as well as a handy Check List you can print out and take with you while you shop!

CLICK HERE NOW to get your copy, and turn grandma's little keepsake into a pot of gold!

I'm off to look in my attic, I'm sure there's a pair of Great Aunt Mildred's leg warmers somewhere - or was it Uncle Henry's golf socks.....

Find Secrets to eBay Online Marketplace

Do Joint Ventures give Big Profits?

When I first saw JV Auction Profits I thought to myself 'what's this then?' I'd never seen anything like it before. I sometimes wonder just where John Thornhill gets his ideas from!

http://tinyurl.com/smart-cash-now

Now I have sold on eBay before, not in great quantities I admit, but enough to get attention from other eBay sellers. Some of the emails I received asking me to Joint Venture with them I normally just ignored as it was eBay. But John Thornhill has stumbled on a technique, or rather a way to harness the power of gaining that extra profit from eBay, without the fee's and the eBay rules which we all know change like the weather.

What do we need to know?
I cannot, for legal reasons, list all the techniques John uses to create his income stream, but I can let you know he earned over $35,000 by doing just a few minutes work per week, co-ordinating with other eBay sellers and generating friendships and leads throughout the world.

It's not rocket science. However, most people simply take eBay at face value and never think of the inner potential, and how it can skyrocket their business. In JV Auction Profits John will show you how to harness the full power of eBay, and make you money you never thought possible from your business.

I know, I know. I started asking the same questions you're thinking of. Like 'I don't sell eBooks, and I know John does. My business is X' etc, etc. All this makes no difference at all in any way. The fact is if you are a newbie, small seller, large seller, PowerSeller, Non PowerSeller the differences mean nothing. Everyone who is anyone that sells on eBay has the potential to take advantage of the information John is providing to reap maximum effect.

  • You DON'T need a product
  • You DON'T have to have experience with this system
  • You DON'T need any money to set this up
John will show you how to do it using real life examples.
  • You DON'T have to write an eBook. This is NOT about writing eBooks, it's about YOU and YOUR business, and how you can make the best of it.
Now this is not a get rich quick in ten seconds scheme either, like a lot of guys put their names to. It is simply a legitimate way to boost your business and take some more money to the bank.
http://tinyurl.com/smart-cash-now
This is PERFECT for any eBay seller, no matter what you sell.

Make Good Profits as a Seller on eBay

Can I really earn any money online?

Yes, You Can Make Money on eBay

To make money selling on eBay can be extremely profitable once you know what you are doing, and have established your own products and eBay shop. But for new eBay sellers, there are some things you need to know before you get started in order to make money on eBay.

So what do I need to know?
Make money on eBay by knowing your product. You need to research exactly what you are going to sell on eBay. Think of the the things that interest you, and that you are good at. You can make money on eBay by becoming a great source for a particular kind of item, which will give you a huge advantage, and will definately get you ahead of the competition.

Customers who are interested in your unique line of products will develop loyalty to your eBay shop, and will come back to you again and again. If you want to make money selling on eBay, and decide to sell a unique product, this will gain you loyalty from your customers as they know exactly where they can buy this normally hard to find item.

Are there any easy tips?
Make money on eBay by selling what you know! It will be easier for you to write desciptions, and will be sure that you are selling your product for the right price. Some sellers who make money selling on eBay sell their products at a very low price, but sell huge quantities. On the other hand some sellers who make money on eBay sell their goods at a much higher price and sell fewer.

However, price is always an important factor if you are to make money selling on eBay because it drives the buyers. A very low price will attract more customers but will not give you the best profit. Selling too high will just drive your customers away and you will not make money on eBay. Customers always go for the best deals, but they will also take into account the price, guarantees and shipping times.

So, to make money selling on eBay you need to pick the products that you are interested in and which you think will sell well. You need to create new interest with a great product that you can descibe well, and offer at a great price, but high enough to allow you to make money on eBay.

Once you have found the right products and listed them well at the right price, you will make money on eBay easily. Simply add related products to your inventory all the time. Thjis will give your loyal buyers the chance to purchase extras or other unique items when they return to your eBay shop. It is often the extras or the cross-sales that allow you to really make money on eBay, as they can make a real difference to your income!

To make money selling on eBay successfully is all about getting it absolutely right from the start, doing it properly and building your products and reputation. Do it right and you WILL make money on eBay!
