Easy Tips for getting it right on eBay

Why your Terms and Conditions are a must on eBay
There are certain things you can do selling on eBay, and there are certain things you can't do selling on eBay.

All of these are laid down in eBay's Terms and Conditions when you first sign up, and if you haven't looked them up yet I strongley advise youdo - it can save a lot of hassle later if you fall foul of them. But are Terms and Conditions necessary on your eBay listings?

If you sell any products on eBay you MUST include your own Terms and Conditions of Sale. This isn't a condition set by eBay, it's more a question of common sense. Having said that, they don't have to be all legal beagle or anything, you don't have to put 'aforementioned', 'hitherto' or 'thereafter' or stuff like that in it.

All you need is straightforward plain English words telling everyone how it is. Give them a nice friendly set of rules they can easily understand so there are no misunderstandings on either side. Tell your buyers everything they need to know, but do it a way that won't upset them.

What do I say?
Whatever you do don't come across as rude or patronizing, that's the quickest way to lose a sale. Make sure you say what methods of payment are acceptable and what days you despatch goods, that sort of thing. If for example you can only get to the Post Office on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, put that in too. Always state how much the postage costs will be, and the method of delivery i.e. 1st Class, Parcel Post etc. Tell them anything you think they will need to know, but do it in a way that doesn't come across as curt.

Your Terms and Conditions are specific to you. It's how you operate your business. When people see your Terms and Conditions leave them in no doubt as to how you operate, so there are no misunderstandings before they decide to buy your product(s), but as I said before - be friendly!

If you're still worried about how to word it all, go on to eBay and find similar products to your own, then click on a few and see how they are wording theirs. Make a few notes and do the same. It isn't that difficult, but it is important to do it, and do it properly.
